On December 13, sponsored by Southern Publishing Media Co., Ltd., and sponsored by Time Weekly and Time Finance, the main forum of 'Influence · China 'Time Summit 2019' was grandly held. Zhang Xin, Vice President of TCL CSOT, was invited to attend and deliver a speech— -'Technology empowers a beautiful horizon-new opportunities for China's semiconductor display industry', sharing the opportunities and challenges faced by TCL CSOT Optoelectronics in the new era from a global perspective and a semiconductor perspective.

TCL CSOT Zhang Xin: China's Panel Industry Has Driven the Industry Chain Over 20 Billion

'The development of China's panel industry has driven the development of the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain.'

According to Zhang Xin, taking TCL CSOT as an example, the amount of localized purchases increased from 1.09 billion yuan in 2018 to 1.42 billion yuan in 2019, a growth rate of 30%, and the localization coverage of equipment reached 44%, driving about 240 billion yuan. Upstream and downstream industry chain.

At the same time, Zhang Xin estimates that with the help of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games, the proportion of 8K resolution TV shipments will reach 4.8% in 2023. And for monitors over 80 inches, 8K resolution will account for more than 30%.

Now, there are more and more flexible screens. According to Zhang Xin ’s prediction, “In 2019, flexible screens will account for only 11% of mobile phones; by 2024, this proportion will reach close to 40%, which is a nearly four-fold increase. '

8K demand will be more intense

It is reported that before 2009, the production line of the Chinese panel industry above 8.5 generations was 0. After ten years of development, the global production line of more than 8.5 generations has reached 31, including 21 in China.

After ten years of development, an average of more than two 8.5 generation lines have been completed and put into production every year, and the industry has developed very rapidly.

This has led to stronger demand growth momentum. According to Zhang Xin, TV and public display products account for the largest area. 'TV displays are counted in terms of quantity, and the annual growth rate is 1.6%, and in terms of area, the annual growth rate can reach more than 6.9%; commercial displays are even more prosperous, and the area growth is more than 25% per year.'

Zhang Xin said, 'The increase in demand brought about by the increase in area requires the construction of production lines.'

From 2018, only 7.4% of TV display products over 65 inches; by 2022, TV display products over 65 inches accounted for more than 20%. The data shows that the increase in panel size will inevitably lead to an increase in resolution requirements. During the period of 32 inches, the panel resolution is mainly HD and FHD; when the mainstream size is increased to 55 inches, the panel resolution is increased to 4K; when the size continues to increase and then expanded, to 65 inches, 75 inches Even with larger sizes, the demand for 8K is even stronger.

Zhang Xin believes that '2019 is the beginning year of 8K, and with the development of 5G and other more advanced communication technologies, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will play a strong role in the development of 8K.'

In the future, TCL CSOT will actively deploy Micro-LED display

In the past ten years, new LCD panel production lines have been concentrated in mainland China. Zhang Xin said, 'As some Korean and Taiwanese factories withdraw from the LCD panel market, backward production capacity is gradually being eliminated. Mainland China is expected to account for 58% of global LCD production capacity by 2023 and 38% for AMOLED.'

China's panel self-sufficiency rate has also increased year by year. In 2011, China's panel self-sufficiency rate was only 15%; by 2018, China's panel self-sufficiency rate had reached 89%. Zhang Xin predicts, 'As the production capacity of several new 11-generation lines is released, this proportion will increase and may rise to more than 90%.'

It is reported that there are currently 6 production lines under construction and under construction by TCL CSOT, with a total investment of nearly 200 billion yuan. Shenzhen and Huizhou are large-scale TV panel and module production bases, with two 8-generation lines and two 11-generation lines; Wuhan is a small and medium-sized panel and module production base, with an LTPS production line and an AMOLED production line. A module factory was also built in India last year, and there is the country’s only printing innovation center for flexible displays in Guangzhou.

In terms of R & D layout, TCL CSOT recently focused on 8K LCD, bringing a breakthrough image quality upgrade; starting next year, it will focus on promoting MLED-Star Yao screen, which is Mini-LED backlight on glass TV display; in the future, Mini -LED is a direct-view display. In the next 3-5 years, it will develop printed OLED technology, and will actively deploy Micro-LED display in the future.
