This dream screen is the first domestically produced AMOLED flexible screen with extremely small in-hole punching technology. The internal aperture of the screen is only 2.6mm, which is smaller than the aperture size of Samsung Note10 or S10.

 

In terms of touch technology, the screen adopts the integrated technology of encapsulation and touch, directly making the touch layer on the thin film encapsulation layer (Direct on-cell touch, DOT), without adding a separate external touch layer effectively reducing the screen thickness and reduce product cost. This technology has always been exclusively developed by Samsung Display. The mass production delivery of this product also marks TCL CSOT as the second company that can mass-produce flexible on-cell perforated screens after Samsung.

 

In addition, the screen adopts TCL CSOT's ultra-narrow bezel technology, the lower border of the screen is less than 1.8mm, and is equipped with hyperboloid 3D lamination technology, which greatly increases the screen ratio of the mobile phone and brings users a perfect visual and user experience .

In terms of display performance, the screen pixels are arranged in TCL CSOT’s own patented Pearl arrangement, with a full-screen brightness of 500nits, a maximum brightness of more than 800nits, and a local peak brightness of more than 1100nits. DCI-P3 color gamut coverage reaching 100%, the contrast is as high as 5,000,000: 1.

 

Due to the use of the third-generation EL material and device structure independently developed by TCL CSOT, this screen has the technical advantages of low power consumption, long life, eye protection and low blue light. It has passed the TUV Rheinland inspection and obtained the TUV low blue light certification.

 

In addition, the screen uses DC dimming technology to avoid screen flicker at low brightness, which can improve the comfort of use in dark environments and relieve eye muscle fatigue. At the same time, the screen supports 90Hz display and 180Hz touch report rate, bringing a smoother game and dynamic picture experience.

 

To build a dream industry chain, TCL CSOT distributes upstream key materials

 

For a long period of time, the AMOLED market has always been the dominant state of Samsung. Its market share once exceeded 95%, and Chinese mainland panel makers' market share in AMOLED is almost zero. In order to improve the self-sufficiency rate of AMOLED panels in the mainland, TCL CSOT launched its layout as early as March 2017, and the TCL CSOT t4 project using flexible LTPS-AMOLED technology was settled in Wuhan Optics Valley.

  

From the perspective of the entire AMOLED industry, China's upstream equipment and materials are still heavily dependent on imports, and Japanese, Korean, and European and American companies have mastered the core technologies and resources upstream of the AMOLED industry chain. To increase the localization of China's AMOLED industry, it is necessary to improve the upstream industry chain.

 

In response to the localization of upstream materials, TCL CSOT has already begun its layout. China Ray Optoelectronics has undertaken the national 'Demonstration Project for the Industrialization of Key Materials for Printed OLED Display' to lead the development and application of printed OLED materials.

 

China Ray Optoelectronics researches and develops new key OLED materials with independent IP. For different functional layers of the complete OLED device structure, the focus is on the light-emitting layer (EML) materials. Among them, red and green materials and solution processing based on the evaporation process and the performance of red light materials is in the leading position in the industry. The red and green materials of vapor-deposited OLEDs have achieved mass production. The QLED research and development team has broken through key issues such as the service life of red and green materials, and the number of published patents in the field of quantum dot electroluminescence ranks two in the world.

 

The establishment of a key material supply chain is critical to the competitiveness and profitability of domestic flexible OLED factories, and even survival. After TCL CSOT deployed the upstream key materials, it accelerated the production of the t4 project. On December 12, 2019, TCL Technology stated in the announcement regarding media reports that the G6 flexible AMOLED production line (t4) has undergone more than half a year of product development and trial production, and AMOLED products will be mass-produced this month.

 

With the mass production and shipment of flexible AMOLED products of the TCL CSOT t4 project, it will compete with Korean companies for market share in OLED. The t4 project is not only an important step in the layout of the TCL CSOT display panel industry, but also a microcosm of the rise of the mainland in the OLED industry. It also makes the Chinese display industry plays a more important role in the world display industry.
